Young Woman Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting a Minor

ST. CROIX — A 21-year-old woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a minor, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, members of the department's Criminal Investigation Bureau executed an arrest warrant at 9:20 a.m. Friday on Antenasia Marrero outside her place of employment without incident. 

Her came as a result of an incident that occurred on December 11, 2020 where she allegedly assaulted a minor child causing visible injuries to the child’s neck, according to the police report.

Marrero was charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence), child abuse, and simple assault and battery (domestic violence).

Following her arrest, Marrero was transported to the V.I.P.D.'s Mars Hill headquarters in Frederiksted where she was mirandized and declined to give a statement, according to police.

Unable to make bail of $50,000, she was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending her advisement hearing scheduled for Monday.
