ST. JOHN — Charisma Turnbull is before the courts after witnesses reportedly saw her assault a woman who asked her to wait for free coffee.
On January 10th, VIPD officers met with a woman at a café in the Marketplace shopping center on St. John, who reported that she had asked Ms. Turnbull to wait outside of the establishment to receive her usual free cup of coffee, as things were busy.
Turnbull reportedly decided to enter anyway and immediately started rummaging through the coolers, taking ice cream as she went. The woman says she asked Ms. Turnbull to leave several times, but after initially ignoring her, a cursing Turnbull grabbed the woman, shook her, then punched her on the right side of her face. Turnbull reportedly left the store after assaulting the woman with a $4.75 ice cream bar.
Two other individuals corroborated the complainant’s story, according to court documents. Police found Ms. Turnbull in the vicinity of E-C Gas Station and placed her under arrest, charged with simple assault and petit larceny.
In court on Monday, a judge ruled that Turnbull be allowed to post $500 to secure bail. She is barred from leaving the St. Thomas- St. John District and must report to the Office of Probation once a week. Turnbull is to stay at least 1,000 ft away from the victim and is prohibited from going to the cafe.
Ms. Turnbull has also been ordered to complete a psychological evaluation.
