CRUZ BAY, ST. JOHN — A woman was arrested Wednesday for stealing, forging, endorsing and cashing two checks totaling $2,000, the V.I. Police Department announced Saturday. The woman, identified as 24-year-old Daliqua Moses from St. Thomas, was arrested on her third attempt to cash a stolen and forged check, the last one totaling $3,000.
According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, On Wednesday the Economic Crimes Unit (ECU) initiated an investigation into a reported grand larceny. The complainant reported that three checks were stolen from his check book which was located at his place of employment. An investigation revealed that Moses stole the checks, endorsed, forged, and cashed two checks totaling $2,000.
On Friday at 1:25p.m., the Merchants Commercial Bank notified police when it was identified that Moses was present at a branch in St. John and was attempting to cash a third check in the amount of $3,000. According to the V.I.P.D., Moses was apprehended at the bank by patrol officers and turned over to the ECU detectives. She was then placed under arrest, processed, and charged with grand larceny, obtaining money by false pretense, and forgery.
Unable to make bail of $20,000, Moses was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advisement hearing.
