Woman Stabbed to Death at Oswald Harris Court in St. Thomas; Male Person of Interest in Custody

ST. THOMAS — A woman was stabbed to death Saturday afternoon at the Osward Harris Court housing community, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte reported that the 911 Emergency Call Center at 1:13 p.m. received notification from a resident at the housing community that a female victim was bleeding from her head.

V.I.P.D. Officers and EMS personnel arrived at the location and observed an unresponsive female victim. The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification, was pronounced dead on the scene by the medical examiner. She was 39 years old, according to the police department.

Mr. Dratte said Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives have a person of interest in custody. "This is an ongoing investigation," he said.

Today's homicide carries the territory's total to 32 for the year, 23 on St. Croix and 9 in the St. Thomas-St. John District, according to the V.I.P.D.
