Woman Shot in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — A female victim reported that she was shot while entering her home in Contant during the wee hours of Monday.

V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima said that at about 12:52 a.m. Monday, the victim reported to police that she was entering her residence with her boyfriend when gunshots were heard. After realizing she had been shot, the victim asked a neighbor to call 911.

She was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of a gunshot wound to her left hand, according to the news release.

Officers on the scene observed and collected spent shell casings and a firearm near the residence, which will aid in the investigation, Mr. Derima said.

Police are asking anyone who knows what may have happened to call 911, the VIPD at (340) 774-2211, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS. "Remember, if you see something, say something," said the police force.
