ST. CROIX — A woman was injured by gunfire during a shooting incident at the David Hamilton Jackson Terrace housing community Friday night, V.I.P.D. spokesman Toby Derima has announced.
According to the V.I.P.D. news release, on Friday at about 9:21 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the housing community in reference to reports of shots fired with a possible victim. Officers traveled to the area and found community residents assisting an adult female who was apparently injured by a gunshot. The victim was transported to the Juan Francisco Luis Hospital for treatment of a minor injury.
Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle, described as a Black Acura, leave the area after the shots were fired. Officers and crime scene investigators examined the scene and collected evidence in furtherance of the investigation, Mr. Derima said.
Police Chief Sidney Elskoe is appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the department by calling 911, the Crime TipLine at (340) 778-4950 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
"Remember, if you see something, say something," the V.I.P.D. said.
