The La Reine Shopping Center Parking Lot during the wee hours of Sunday morning following a shooting incident that left a man and a woman injured.
ST. CROIX — Two victims were shot at an entertainment event on St. Croix during the early-morning hours of Sunday after a gunman opened fire, the V.I. Police Department has announced.
Among them was a woman who police say sustained a gunshot wound to the chin that left her in critical condition, while a male victim was shot in his upper right shoulder.
According to V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte, the 911 Emergency Call Center at about 1:46 a.m. Sunday dispatched police units to investigate the shooting at the event — called "The Return of Tsunami 4: The Ultimate Wet Fete" — which was held at the La Reine Shopping Center parking lot.
The female victim was transported by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, while an adult male victim was transported by private vehicle.
A preliminary investigation revealed that shots were discharged during the event, striking both victims, according to police. Mr. Dratte said the incident remains under active investigation.
