THOMAS — Police are investigating a homicide after an unresponsive woman was found with a gunshot wound in the wee hours of Saturday morning, the V.I. Police Department has confirmed to the Consortium.
The Richard Callwood Command Units were dispatched to the Commandant Gade area in St. Thomas following reports of shots being fired, according to the VIPD.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the unidentified woman, who appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound and is believed to be between 30-40 years old, according to investigators. Emergency Medical Technicians were called to the scene, where they pronounced the woman dead at approximately 3:01 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities had yet to identify the victim as they sought to notify her next of kin. The suspect(s) involved in the homicide remain unknown, and no arrests have been made so far, the VIPD said.
