ST. THOMAS — On Monday, May 20, 57-year-old Tina Louise Hugine, also known as Tina Phillips, was arrested in St. Thomas on multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault.
The arrest took place at the Richard N. Callwood Command where Hugine turned herself in around 10:00 a.m. The detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau issued an arrest following an incident that occurred in Simmonds Alley in April 2024.
Hugine, a resident of Ulke Gade, is accused of assaulting another individual by slashing their neck with a knife multiple times. According to the victim, a second female assisted Hugine during the attack. The specifics of the incident, including the motive and the identity of the second assailant, remain under investigation.
The court has set bail for Hugine at $100,000.00. In addition to first-degree assault, she faces charges of third-degree assault, mayhem, and the use of a dangerous weapon, along with brandishing and exhibiting deadly weapons. Hugine is currently being held pending further court action as the legal process continues to unfold.
