ST. CROIX — A woman has been charged with aggravated assault and battery and obscene and indecent conduct after she reportedly defecated in the presence of several people while being arrested.
Wendy Myers was arrested on Saturday afternoon after officers were initially dispatched to investigate a report of stalking in Estate St. John, Christiansted. When they arrived, Myers claimed that her landlord was following her earlier in the day, stating that she saw him walking several feet behind her as she made her way along Northside Road. According to Myers, the man did not address her, but she felt uncomfortable by his decision to leave the premises at the same time as her.
Police then made contact with the landlord who stated that it was a coincidence that he left around the same time as Myers, and that he was simply on his way to the nearby gas station. However, while police interviewed the landlord, Myers reportedly began shouting from her porch, yelling "You perverted ass child molester! You're a damn liar, you know damn well you don't work out!" An officer subsequently cautioned Myers to stop causing a disturbance and disrupting the interview. However, the woman ignored the officer’s instructions and proceeded to swear, stating “You’re just a slave and he is a [expletive] fat pedophile.” The police officer then advised Myers that she was committing an offense, noting that that was her last warning.
Myers failed to heed the warning, instead shouting “I don't give a [expletive] about any of that, I will have your badge if you try to arrest me and not that waste of space. He is disgusting and a son of a [expletive]. I will say what the [expletive] I want from my porch!".
According to the probable cause fact sheet, the officer then informed Myers that she was being placed under arrest and approached her porch. The officer handcuffed Myers but kept her hands to the front due to her complaining of an injury that restricts her movement. However, the woman began shouting "Take off these [expletive] handcuffs right now!" while twisting around her arms in the handcuffs.
As the officer attempted to guide Myers to the police vehicle she tensed her body and pulled away. The officer consequently pulled her and brought her to the rear driver-side door of the police vehicle. According to the fact sheet, that is when the officer observed that Myers pulled down her pants, exposed her nude buttocks, stooped down and began to defecate in the presence of the officers, the landlord and other tenants. Myers was then guided to the rear passenger door and the officer ordered her to enter the vehicle and be seated. She reportedly refused to get into the vehicle, causing the officer to gently push her inside. However, she left her leg hanging outside, preventing the officer from closing the door.
Myers then failed to respond to an order to put her legs in the vehicle, causing the officer to attempt to put her leg inside. The fact sheet alleges that the officer was then kicked in the groin by Myers who subsequently placed both of her legs fully into the police vehicle and sat upright. She was then arrested and charged and remanded to the Bureau Of Corrections until her advisement hearing on Monday. At that hearing, judge Ernest Morris Jr. found probable cause for both charges against her and ruled that she would be released on the posting of $100 cash and an unsecured bond valued at $900.
