ST. CROIX — The V.I.P.D. on Friday reported two separate domestic violence incidents on St. Croix, the first involving a woman accused of breaking into her boyfriend's home and assaulting him, while the other is of a man who is said to have kidnapped and assaulted his girlfriend.
Woman Arrested for Assault, Destruction of Property
According to V.I.P.D, Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Thursday at approximately 10:52 p.m., police arrested Rebekah Kelly, age 25 of Work & Rest, and charged her with first-degree burglary, domestic violence, aggravated assault and battery, and destruction of property.
According to the news release, Kelly allegedly broke into her boyfriend’s residence, assaulted him, and damaged his property.
Kelly was not offered bail as per the territory’s domestic violence laws, and she was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending her advisement hearing.
Man Facing Domestic Violence, Kidnapping Charges
Mr. Derima said police arrested 36-year-old Ossie Constant of Mary’s Fancy on Thursday. He was charged with kidnapping/false imprisonment, domestic violence; grand larceny; simple assault; and disturbance of the peace, domestic violence.
The news release said Constant is accused of assaulting his girlfriend in the area of Midland Road. Constant allegedly forced the female into his vehicle and took her to Bonne Esperance Road, where she was able to exit the vehicle and wait for police. Officers located the couple and subsequently arrested Constant.
Constant was not offered bail in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence statutes, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
