On Wednesday, a judge granted Sasha Charlemagne additional time to file motions following the second superseding indictment that added serious new charges against her.

In addition to charges of government program fraud for her alleged role in bilking HUD and the VI Housing Finance Authority of up to $4.4 million in the woodpile scandal, Sasha Charlemagne now also faces charges of making false claims, money laundering conspiracy and wire fraud.

Counsel for Mrs. Charlemagne Pamela Colon told the court that prosecutors advised her that additional discovery includes “hundreds if not thousands of hours of closed-circuit video that must be reviewed,” according to court documents. This material will be reportedly provided “in the near future,” although a fixed deadline does not exist.

Because of the volume of new material the defense expects to have to sift through, Magistrate Emile Henderson III granted their request to postpone the trial scheduled for February 3 until further notice, as well as extending the deadline to file motions for 60 days following the completion of the discovery process, whenever that may be.
