Wanted St. Thomas Man Turns Himself in to Police and Arrested for Extortion

St. Thomas – After learning he was wanted by police, 29-year-old Kemar Alex Campbell surrendered to the V.I.P.D. and was arrested on charges of extortion, grand larceny and unauthorized use of a vehicle, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

Mr. Campbell turned himself in to police at about 8:20 on Tuesday evening.

According to the police department, Mr. Campbell stole a motorcycle from Estate Fortuna, and then later contacted the motorcycle’s owner to demand money if the owner wanted it returned. Mr. Campbell also threatened to send his “associates” to harm the motorcycle owner if he didn’t agree to pay.

After hearing of a warrant for his arrest, police said Mr. Campbell returned the stolen motorcycle and turned himself in to authorities. He was unable to post $70,000 bail and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
