ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department announced Wednesday that a man wanted for an assault in September of last year was arrested earlier this week.

On November 26, 2022 a man came to police and reported an incident which he said had occurred months earlier. He told officers that he was sitting in his vehicle on the evening of Sunday September 11, 2022 when a man he identified as Arnold Malone, age 47, banged on the windshield, muttering under his breath.

The complainant recounted how Malone then pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at him before accusing him of "talking about" Malone "with other people." The man told police that Malone walked away before coming back to point the firearm directly at his face, and said that Malone menaced him in this manner several times.

According to the VIPD, a wanted poster for Arnold Malone was circulated on February 24, 2023. This Tuesday, March 14, officers of the Criminal Investigation Bureau acted on information they had received and apprehended Malone at the Paragon building in St. Thomas.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm,  felon in possession of a firearm,  third-degree assault,  and disturbance of the peace.

Authorities are asking members of the public who may have information about the incident last September to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau or the Police Chief at (340) 774-2211, or to contact Crime Stoppers USVI with an anonymous tip here.
