ST. CROIX — Multiple individuals have fallen victim to a scam that involves a man named Christopher Rios-Cisneros, who fraudulently claims partnership with well-known St. Croix firm Pinnacle Services to offer job employment at the Limetree Bay Refinery.

The scam appears to be an attempt to extract money from unsuspecting individuals.

A number of persons have already provided Rios-Cisneros with sensitive information such as their Social Security number, banking details and other private information.

On Tuesday, Pinnacle Services described the matter as employment fraud and urged job seekers to beware of the illegal activity.

As part of the scam targeting potential job seekers, Rios-Cisneros places the calls informing individuals that they were hired for a job at the refinery through  Tyco/Pinnacle. Rios-Cisneros then informs these prospective employees that they need to make a deposit of $85 and provide banking information. These individuals are also told that they would need to pay for a drug test by putting funds on a CVS card, the details of which would need to be sent to Rios-Cisneros who promises the would-be employees reimbursement at a later date.

To make these individuals feel comfortable when they ask about the uncommon requests, Rios-Cisneros sends this LinkedIn profile to boost the credibility of the fraud. The LinkedIn account was active as of 2:52 p.m. Tuesday.

The Consortium has confirmed with Pinnacle Services that it has no relationship of any kind with Tyco or Christopher Rios-Cisneros, and the company only became aware of the situation by way of phone calls received by the apparent victims of the fraudulent activity. Pinnacle said it has never, and would never require applicants to provide a deposit, or "put money on a CVS card."
