VIPD Searches for Armed Suspect After Two Shot at Lorraine Village

VIPD says a male and female were shot multiple times at Lorraine Village and transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital in stable condition; police are searching for 22-year-old Jahnigh Gonsalves, described as armed and dangerous and wanted for attempted murder

ST. CROIX — Police are searching for 22-year-old Janigh Gonsalves after a male and female were shot multiple times Sunday morning at Lorraine Village and transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital in stable condition.

According to the V.I. Police Department, the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received the report at 8:48 a.m. on June 29. VIPD officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the scene, and both victims were transported by ambulance to the hospital.

VIPD said Gonsalves is wanted in connection with the shooting. A wanted poster issued by the department’s Forensic/Identification Section and Criminal Investigation Bureau spells his name as Jahnigh Gonsalves and lists him as wanted for first-degree murder.

Police described Gonsalves as a Black male with a light complexion, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 125 pounds, with black twisted hair, brown eyes and a birthmark on his chest. VIPD said he frequents Lorraine Village, Aureo Diaz and Grove Place, and was last seen in Lorraine Village.

Police said Gonsalves is considered armed and dangerous.
