ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department has provided additional information related to its investigation of two bodies found late Friday afternoon, burned beyond recognition in a vehicle near the old Good Hope High School campus. The incident, which has shaken the St. Croix community, has been classified as a suspicious death.

The VIPD identified the vehicle as a red truck. Investigators also revealed that an accelerant was used to start the fire. During its examination of the incident, the VIPD stated that a resident contacted the 911 Emergency Call Center upon noticing the fire.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit have been assigned and are actively investigating the case. However, due to the unrecognizable condition of the two body remains, "we are presently unable to determine a cause of death."

The vehicle was removed from the scene and secured, and the body remains were removed by the Medical Examiner's Office.

Police Commander Naomi Joseph said in a statement that as of Monday morning there were no suspects and that dental samples have been submitted for DNA testing. "We’ve submitted samples for dental and DNA testing so we can positively identify the bodies. The results are pending. Currently, there is no suspect, and the investigation is ongoing. We continue to ask the community for any information that can assist in this investigation," said Commander Joseph.

On Sunday, the VIPD issued a request for help for two young men — Dion Ahmil Williams and Naleem Jerimiah Browne — who were last seen the same day as the suspicious death incident. However, police did not link the two incidents, citing the ongoing investigation.

According to the VIPD, Dion Ahmil Williams, a 19-year-old male, was last seen at approximately 4:00 p.m. on August 23 at his residence in La Grange. Dion, also known by the alias "Ahmillion," is described as 6’5” tall, weighing 175 pounds, with black and brown dreadlocks, light skin, and black eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with pink Nike shorts. The VIPD noted that he frequently visits Frederiksted Town, The Fred Hotel, and Cibone Restaurant.

Naleem Jerimiah Browne, also 19 years old, was last seen earlier that day (August 23) at around 8:40 a.m. at his home on Queen Street in Frederiksted Town. Naleem, who has a slim build, stands at 5’6” and weighs 125 pounds. He has black and brown dreadlocks, light skin, and brown eyes. Naleem has several tattoos, including a heart under his right eye and others on his left hand, neck, and near his right eye.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a gray jacket, black and white Adidas pants, and a black stocking cap. His mother received his last text message at 4:06 p.m. that day.
