ST. CROIX — A man was treated for gunshot injuries Wednesday night after being shot at around five to eight times near Strawberry Hill, the V.I.P.D. has confirmed to the Consortium, citing information from a preliminary investigation.
According to the police department, at approximately 10:38 p.m. Wednesday, concerned residents reported hearing gunfire in the vicinity of the mailboxes in Strawberry Hill. A call was then received from a woman stating that her son was shot near Strawberry Hill.
Contact was made with the victim who was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by private vehicle. He told police that after leaving a relative's home, he was near the rear fence in Pepper Tree Terrace when he observed a heavily tinted silver Acura TL with no license plate following him. The victim further stated that an individual exited the vehicle and began shooting at him, firing between five to eight shots.
As a result of the gunfire, the victim sustained a single gunshot wound to his right arm and was listed in stable condition at the hospital, according to police. The suspect was described as a male individual who was dressed in all black.
