ST. JOHN — Two alarming burglary incidents in St. John have left residents on edge as the V.I. Police Department intensifies its investigations.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 6 at approximately 3:45 a.m., a resident of Estate Enighed was startled awake by the sound of his door knob being tampered with. Upon investigating the noise, he was confronted by two black males, dressed entirely in black and wearing masks. One of the intruders brandished a long gun, demanding money. After complying, the burglars swiftly departed in an unknown direction.
Only hours before, on Saturday, August 5 at about 11:30 p.m., a similar incident occurred on Power Boyd Street. A resident, after hearing a knock at his door, was forced inside his home by several armed men. The assailants pointed their weapons at the homeowner, demanding money. Following a thorough ransacking of the residence, they made off with an undisclosed sum of money and other valuables.
Both cases are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. The authorities are urging anyone with any pertinent information relating to these distressing crimes to step forward.
