USVI-born recording artist Cruz Rock will be among 11 singers performing their original songs live on stage Monday night during the second qualifier episode of the American Song Contest, a new series on NBC hosted by Snoop Dog and Kelly Clarkson.

Cruz Rock is well known locally and in the Latin world, and has done work with international artists such as Beenie Man, among other major names.

His biography for NBC's American Song Contest reads, "Cruz Rock (born Frankie Garcia) is a Latin Caribbean singer, songwriter and producer whose heritage traces back to Trinidad and Tobago as well as Puerto Rico and Vieques. Born to a Trinidadian mother and a Puerto Rican father, he’s very influenced by these cultures, so his music fuses Caribbean, American and Latin styles."

Cruz Rock, who resides in Miami, Florida, will be performing an original song titled "Celebrando".
