Two Young Men Arrested in St. Thomas for Scooter Theft

Surveillance footage and testimonies key in identifying theft suspects

ST. THOMAS — Two 18-year-old men, Ja’Fari Todman of Hospital Ground, St. Thomas, and Kahden Daniels of Estate Bellevue, St. John, have been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of two scooters, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

According to the release, the arrest, carried out by the Criminal Investigation Bureau on Thursday, January 18, 2024, comes after the owner of a business on Kronprindsens Gade reported the unauthorized removal of two scooters on October 22, 2023. The subsequent investigation involved reviewing video surveillance footage and gathering testimonies, which led to the identification of Todman and Daniels as suspects.

The two men have been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and grand larceny. Following their arrest and processing, they were unable to post the set bail of $25,000 each. Consequently, they were turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
