The V.I. Police Department reported three separate cases over the weekend, including two extraditions from Florida to St. Croix and the arrest of a 19-year-old on St. Thomas in connection with two alleged auto theft incidents.
In one St. Croix case, police said Ajahny Joseph, 25, was extradited back to the island on July 3 after an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a minor.
According to VIPD, a report was made on February 9, 2026, at about 1:26 p.m. regarding the sexual assault of a minor. A detective with the Criminal Investigation Bureau investigated the matter and determined that a female minor had allegedly been sexually assaulted by Joseph.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Joseph was no longer on St. Croix. On April 7, 2026, detectives obtained an arrest warrant signed by a Superior Court judge. The warrant was subsequently entered into the National Crime Information Center database.
Detectives were later notified that Joseph was in custody in Orange County, Florida. On July 3, he was extradited to St. Croix and booked.
Bail was set at $75,000. Unable to post bail, Joseph was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing, set for July 6 in Superior Court.
VIPD also reported the extradition of Jomar Sanes, 29, to St. Croix to face charges of carrying a firearm openly or concealed and possession of ammunition.
Police said that on April 26, 2026, at approximately 11:25 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received several reports of shots fired in the Castle Burke neighborhood. Responding officers observed a male, later identified as. Sanes, with several gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
While Sanes was being treated, police said a firearm was found in his possession. Further investigation determined that he did not have a license to possess a firearm, and an arrest warrant was obtained from the Superior Court.
VIPD said it was later determined that Sanes had fled the island, and the warrant was entered into the National Crime Information Center database. On or about June 18, 2026, he was apprehended and detained in Florida.
On July 3, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau extradited Sanes to St. Croix, where he was arrested and processed. Unable to post $50,000 bail, he was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending advice of rights on July 6 in Superior Court.
In a separate St. Thomas case, VIPD said the Criminal Investigation Bureau arrested 19-year-old Ra’jahni Hendrickson in connection with two auto theft incidents that occurred on June 14, 2026.
Hendrickson was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of stolen property, and grand larceny.
Police said the first incident occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m., when Hendrickson, accompanied by two other individuals, stole a truck in the vicinity of 10th Street in Sugar Estate. The victim reported that upon returning, the vehicle was missing. VIPD said surveillance footage later confirmed Hendrickson’s involvement in that incident. His bail in that matter was set at $30,000.
On the same day, at around 8:00 a.m., Hendrickson, again accompanied by others, allegedly removed a dirt bike from the Havensight area. Police said video footage also captured his actions during that occurrence. His bail for that offense was set at $25,000.
The auto theft cases remain under active investigation. VIPD is asking anyone with information related to those incidents or any other crimes to contact 911, the Office of the Chief of Police, or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211.
