ST. THOMAS — Two fugitives from justice were arrested at the Cyril E. King Airport on Sunday, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday police arrested 24-year-old Michael I. Montanez, Jr. of Deltona, Florida, and at 4:00 p.m. Tony C. Kimble, Jr., age 25 of Meridian, Mississippi was arrested as well.

Both men were charged with being fugitives from justice in separate, unrelated matters.

According to the V.I.P.D. release, Customs and Border Protection agents detained Montanez at the Cyril E. King Airport (CEKA) after it was discovered that he was wanted in the Florida for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. His bail, which Montanez was unable to make, was set at $20,000. He was subsequently turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his extradition hearing.

CBP agents at CEKA held Kimble after learning he was wanted in Mississippi on a failure to appear warrant from a possession with intent to distribute charge. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections without bail pending his extradition hearing.
