Two Arrested in Connection With December 2020 Marley Homes Shooting; Men Charged With Attempted Murder

ST. CROIX  — V.I. Police Department officers with the Criminal Investigation and Special Operations Bureaus on Friday arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Dec. 20, 2020 at the Marley Homes housing community, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.

According to the release, the officers arrested 26-year-old Charles Frazer, Jr. of Campo Rico at approximately 12:5 p.m., and at approximately 4:51 p.m. officers arrested Ian Benjamin, Jr., age 19 of Queen Street, Frederiksted. The suspects were arrested based on warrants issued by the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands. Both men were charged with first-degree attempted murder, according to Mr. Derima.

Unable to make bail of $100,000 each, the suspects were remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending their advisement hearing.

Sidney Elskoe, St. Croix District chief of police, commended the work of detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, led by Commander Lieutenant Naomi Joseph and Assistant Commander Lieutenant Marisol Colon, for the tenacity in investigating this incident. “The detectives’ continued hard work led to these arrests,” Chief Elskoe said.
