Two Arrested After Loaded Firearm Recovered During Traffic Stop Near Sunny Isle

ST. CROIX — Two young men were arrested on Monday morning after police discovered a loaded firearm during a traffic stop near the Sunny Isles Shopping Center, the V.I. Police Department has announced.

According to the report, at approximately 10:35 a.m. on January 13, officers observed a black BMW without license plates near the Sunny Isles Shopping Center. The vehicle was stopped near the former Smoked Restaurant, where officers conducted a search and recovered a loaded firearm inside.

The occupants of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Luis Noel and 18-year-old Donnie Heywood, were taken into custody. Both were charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession or sale of ammunition.

Unable to post bail set at $50,000 each, Noel and Heywood were transported to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility, where they were remanded pending their Advice of Rights Hearing.
