ST. CROIX — Police on July 10 arrested three men on firearm possession charges while conducting a DUI (driving under the influence) checkpoint on the Queen Mary Highway near the Sion Farm Shopping Center, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
At about 11:15 p.m. on July 10, Devonte Anthony, age 19 of Sion Hill, K’mani Bruce, age 18 of Catherine’s Rest, and Nathan Warner, age 18 of Sion Farm, were arrested and charged with carrying a firearm openly or concealed, possession or sale of ammunition, and alteration of identifying marks of weapons, according to police.
The men were arrested following a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Anthony. Bruce and Warner were passengers in the vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers found a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number. Each of the men denied owning the firearm, therefore the three were placed under arrest for having the firearm, Mr. Derima said.
Unable to make bail of $50,000 each, the men were remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending their advisement hearing.
