ST. THOMAS — A 13-year-old boy was shot multiple times in Williams Delight on Friday evening, after an encounter with a man armed with a rifle, according to the V.I. Police Department. The incident occurred around 7:51 p.m., when the 911 Emergency Call Center received an alert through the Shot Spotter system, indicating several gunshots had been fired in the area.

According to the VIPD, responding officers arrived at the scene and spoke with the young victim, who said that he and two friends were walking when they were chased by dogs. As they threw stones to fend off the animals, the group began running, and it was then that the boy heard gunshots and collapsed. The minor told police that as he looked back, he saw a man, identified as "Andre," running with a rifle in both hands.

The boy sustained gunshot wounds to his hip, buttocks, and leg and was immediately transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he was admitted for surgery. His condition following the surgery has not been disclosed.

Police later made contact with 43-year-old Andre Browne at his home. After being advised of his Miranda Rights, Browne was arrested and charged with attempted murder. His bail was set at $100,000, and he was subsequently transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have yet to release further details about the case.
