Taximan Assaulted, Carjacked at Gunpoint After Being Led to Dead End and Forced to Exit His Vehicle

ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man provided taxi service to a male passenger Wednesday night only to find out that the taxi ride was a plot to lead him to a dead end for nefarious reasons.

According to V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima, on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the Whispering Hills housing development in Estate Donoe to investigate a carjacking.

The victim in this incident reported to police that he provided taxi service to a male from Long Bay to Whispering Hills. He was instructed to take the male to a dead-end road, where another masked male came from the bushes armed with a handgun.

The victim was assaulted with the firearm and was forced to exit his vehicle and give up his mobile phone, according to the news release. The masked male and the passenger left the area in the vehicle, a white 2007 Toyota Corolla.
