ST. CROIX — Police on Tuesday night arrested David Semper, 22, of no fixed address in connection with a January 19 shooting in Castle Coakley that left three people injured, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced. Semper was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, aiming and discharging a firearm, carrying or using a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy. He was apprehended without incident.

Unable to make bail of $200,000, Semper was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing.

St. Croix District Chief of Police Sidney Elskoe commended the detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, led by Commander Lieutenant Naomi Joseph, for their tenacity in investigating the shooting and obtaining the warrant, the V.I.P.D. news release said.

Chief Elskoe also encouraged the community to submit tips to the VIPD to solve open crimes. “We always say to say something if you see something. By doing so, you can do your part to keep our community safe,” he said.
