ST. THOMAS — A domestic violence incident that occurred early morning on November 2 has led to the arrest of a 49-year-old man, Peter A. Gustave Jr., authorities reported.
According to a VIPD report number, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a distress call at approximately 6:30 a.m. reporting an assault at La Grande Princess. Officers dispatched to the location found the victim, who reported being physically assaulted by her intimate partner, Gustave. The report noted that the victim had multiple injuries as a result of the altercation.
The subsequent day, Gustave was taken into custody at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport. He was apprehended after he had initially fled to St. Thomas and attempted to board a flight bound for the mainland. Gustave was then transported back to St. Croix, where upon his arrival, he was detained by the authorities.
Charges against Gustave include second-degree assault, simple assault, and disturbance of the peace. He was booked at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station and met with his attorney.
Lieutenant Naomi Joseph of the Criminal Investigation Bureau confirmed that Superior Court Judge Brow Ross had ordered Gustave to be placed in the third-party custody of his attorney pending his advice of rights hearing, which is scheduled for November 6.
