ST. THOMAS — A woman traveling eastward in her vehicle on Sunday on the Veteran's Drive road was shot by an unknown assailant and was rushed to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.
According to Police Spokesman Toby Derima, officers were dispatched to the hospital at about 6:53 p.m. Upon their arrival, the victim said she heard shots being fired as she traveled eastward in her vehicle on Veteran’s Drive near the Burger Max Restaurant. She said she did not see who fired the shots, but heard what sounded like a vehicle speed away from the area. Immediately following, the victim observed she was injured by a gunshot and was transported to the hospital via private vehicle.
The victim was listed in stable condition.
