ST. THOMAS — A woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting her girlfriend during an argument.
On Sunday night, officers were dispatched to the PMP Garden Housing Community to respond to a disturbance. A woman there told police that she and her girlfriend, Latisha Pariall, live together in the apartment, each with their minor daughter. While at home, the woman says that the two girls began to argue, and Pariall’s daughter allegedly hit hers, which left the girl crying.
She says she told Pariall to discipline her child while she would do the same with her daughter.
According to documents presented in court, that prompted an argument between the two women, during which Pariall reportedly punched her girlfriend multiple times, including a blow to the mouth which left a cut on the inside of her upper lip. Pariall then threw the woman’s belongings outside on the sidewalk. The impact sent her SIM card flying out of one cell phone, while another phone which was tossed out could not be found at all.
Pariall admitted to police that she did throw the phones outside, and told them that the SIM card was somewhere on the sidewalk. She was placed under arrest and charged with simple assault and destruction of property as acts of domestic violence, as well as disturbance of the peace.
Following her advice of rights hearing on Monday April 10, Pariall was released on a $1000 unsecured bond and will reappear in court for arraignment on May 12.
