St. Thomas Man Dies After Sustaining Multiple Gunshot Wounds

ST. THOMAS — A 29-year-old man died Wednesday night after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, a V.I.P.D. news release has made known.

Police Spokesman Toby Derima said the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched police to the Pavilion and Pools Hotel at about 11:16 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a shooting.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers found a black male who sustained multiple gunshot wounds about his body. Emergency Medical Technicians were notified and traveled to the scene. The male was transported to the  Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment, however he subsequently succumbed to his injuries, Mr. Derima said.

The victim was identified by family members as 29-year-old Khamal DeSilvia.

This incident is under active investigation, according to police. The VIPD is requesting the community’s assistance in finding those responsible.
