ST. THOMAS — A man from Hospital Ground in St. Thomas on Wednesday was levied several sexual violence charges in relation to a domestic violence rape incident.
The V.I.P.D. described the incident as domestic rape, which means the perpetrator allegedly sexually violated his intimate partner or spouse.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Justin Diaz of Hospital Ground, was arrested at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday. He was charged with third-degree rape, domestic violence, unlawful sexual contact, disturbance of the peace threats, domestic violence, simple assault, domestic violence and telephone harassment, domestic violence.
Diaz was identified by the victim as the individual who allegedly sexually assaulted her, according to the V.I.P.D. news release.
Diaz was not offered bail in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence laws, and he was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending advisement hearing.
