ST. THOMAS — A 25-year-old St. Thomas man was arrested on Thursday and charged with vehicular homicide, among other charges for his role in an accident on Sept. 8 that left one passenger of the vehicle he was driving dead, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
According to police, the suspect, Gladimy Alaisse, was arrested in connection with the accident and charged with vehicular homicide, negligent driving, failure to restrain a passenger and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
According to Mr. Derima, Mr. Alaisse was driving a vehicle with a front seat passenger and a rear passenger, while traveling southeast on Turpentine Run Road in the vicinity of the former Lantern Laundry and Brookman Market. Mr. Derima said Mr. Alaisse lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip over several times in the roadway — which resulted in the death of the front seat passenger who was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
Mr. Alaisse was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending confirmation of his identity.
