St. Thomas Man Arrested For DUI Following 4-Vehicle Accident That Left 5 People Injured, Police Say

ST. THOMAS — A business owner in St. Thomas has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after an accident on Veterans Drive on Sunday left five people injured, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Muslum Cevik was placed under arrested and charged with DUI, V.I.P.D. Director of Communications Glen Dratte said, citing a police report.

The incident occurred at about 7:53 p.m. and included four vehicles. According to police, Cevik was operating a gray Maserati on Veterans Drive in the vicinity of the USO building, heading west at a high rate of speed, when he collided into the rear of another vehicle.

The impact caused that vehicle to collide into the rear of another vehicle, causing that vehicle to travel into the eastbound lane and collide into a 4th vehicle that was traveling eastward, according to the V.I.P.D.

A total of 5 people who were in the vehicles were injured, the V.I.P.D. further stated. They received medical treatment at the Schneider Regional Medical Center and were released.

Cevik, who sustained minor injuries, was released after posting an unknown amount of bail. The collision is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Bureau.
