ST. THOMAS — A man was left fighting for his life on Wednesday after an incident of gun violence on Frenchman’s Reef Road, St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department announced Thursday.

According to police, the gunshot victim managed to drive himself to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for immediate treatment after the attack.

The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m., as the victim was returning home from work. Preliminary investigations suggest the man was ambushed by unknown assailants in what appears to be a deliberate attempt on his life. Despite sustaining gunshot injuries, the victim was able to provide a brief account of the harrowing event to the authorities.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is currently leading an investigation into this case, seeking to identify and apprehend the perpetrators involved. As of now, the assailants remain at large, and the motives behind the shooting are unclear.
