Two women were arrested on separate financial crimes Thursday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Toby Derima has announced.
St. Croix Arrest
According to Mr. Derima, on Thursday at approximately 10:52 a.m., detectives from the VIPD Economic Crimes Unit arrested 54-year-old Marisa Parrilla of Grove Place and charged her with embezzlement by clerk/employee, and petit larceny.
The investigation revealed while employed at the Home Depot, Parrilla performed several void transactions allowing an unknown male costumer to leave the store with over $400 in merchandise, police said.
Bail for Parrilla was set at $1,000. She was allowed to post 10 percent of the bail amount and was released. Parrilla’s advisement hearing is pending.
St. Thomas Arrest
On Thursday at around 9:30 a.m., detectives of the Economic Crimes Unit arrested Kzsa Hodge, age 24 of Altona, and charged her with forgery, obtaining money by false pretenses, and grand larceny.
According to the police report, Hodge, who was employed as a medical caretaker of an elderly female victim, admitted to forging the victim’s signature and cashing several checks. She also attempted to cash a check of more than $800 in April.
Unable to post bail of $10,000, Hodge was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending her advisement hearing.
