The V.I. Dept. of Education has unveiled Phase 2 of Public School Operations for the St. Croix District, set for Thursday, October 5, 2023. This decision comes after thorough assessments evaluating the aftermath of Tropical Storm Philippe, along with the influence of WAPA power outages on school facilities.
St. Croix schools have confirmed a 2-hour delayed start time. The department assures that bus services will be available, and they urge faculty, staff, and paraprofessionals to report to their assigned campuses by 9:00 am.
However, it's important to remember, as stated in the Phase 1 announcement, that Central High School remains closed. In contrast, Eulalie Rivera will provide instructional packets at the school from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm to facilitate virtual learning.
On the St. Thomas-St. John District front, even though school assessments have been completed and preparations made for a 2-hour delayed start, all schools are still grappling with the WAPA power outage. This has led to uncertainties around school start times. An update on this matter for the St. Thomas-St. John District will be provided shortly.
