ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man has been sentenced to prison for distributing cocaine near the Red Hook area, according to a statement from United States Attorney Delia L. Smith.
On December 9, 2024, Niah Henry, 35, was sentenced to six months of incarceration followed by four years of supervised release after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. The sentence was handed down by Chief District Judge Robert Molloy.
Court documents revealed that on December 6, 2023, Henry sold cocaine to an undercover agent during a coordinated sting operation. The operation involved the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Task Force, and the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD).
The investigation identified Henry as part of a larger network distributing narcotics in the Red Hook area. The transaction took place approximately 800 feet from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School in St. Thomas, highlighting concerns about drug distribution in proximity to school grounds.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Cherrisse R. Woods. The investigation was a joint effort by the DEA, HIDTA Task Force, and VIPD, reflecting a collaborative approach to combating drug trafficking in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office commended the joint operation’s success in addressing illegal narcotics distribution in the community.
