ST. THOMAS — A man is facing domestic violence charges after being arrested on May 13 for burglary and assault, the VIPD confirmed.
According to the police report, the incident occurred in the early hours of March 28, 2024, at a residence in Pillsbury Heights. The victim, a 46-year-old white female, reported that she was asleep when she was abruptly awakened by her boyfriend, 32-year-old Elijah Henry, who began shouting and yelling at her. She expressed confusion over how Henry gained entry to her home, noting he did not have a key.
The altercation escalated when Henry allegedly punched the victim with a closed fist to her face, strangled her to the point where she could not breathe, and damaged multiple items within the home. Despite the severity of the assault, the victim declined medical treatment. She suffered several injuries, according to her account to the responding officers from the VIPD's Domestic Violence Unit.
Henry, who resides in Dorothea, turned himself into the authorities on May 13. Upon his surrender, he was advised of his constitutional rights but refused to provide a statement to the police. He was subsequently arrested and held without bail due to the severity of the allegations, which include second-degree burglary under domestic violence (DV) statutes, second-degree assault, destruction of property, grand larceny, and simple assault — all compounded by DV conditions.
