ST. THOMAS — A suspect wanted in connection with a robbery case on St. Thomas has been taken into custody, according to a release from the V.I. Police Department.

Authorities confirmed that 40-year-old Dinet Estime was arrested on Tuesday at approximately 5:00 p.m. after being identified by the victim as the individual who assaulted her and stole her gold chain in an incident that took place on December 6, 2024.
According to the victim, Estime approached her and her current boyfriend before initiating a disturbance. She reported that he slapped her, grabbed her by the neck, and forcibly removed the gold jewelry from her neck. As a result of the assault, she sustained injuries and reported experiencing neck pain.
Following an investigation, Estime surrendered himself to the VIPD's Domestic Violence Unit, where he was advised of his rights and participated in an interview. During questioning, he admitted to taking the chain and pendant but denied the other allegations made against him.
He has been charged with second-degree robbery, grand larceny, simple assault, and disturbance of the peace.
After his arrest, Estime was transferred to the Bureau of Corrections, where he remains pending his Advise of Rights Hearing.
