ST. CROIX — A home invasion in Bellevue Village left a St. John resident hospitalized with gunshot wounds after two unknown assailants forced their way into his residence on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

At approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) were dispatched to a reported burglary at a residence in Bellevue Village. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident began when the victim answered a knock at his door from an individual he believed to be a visitor. As soon as he opened the door, two unidentified men forced their way inside. A struggle ensued between the victim and one of the intruders, during which the victim managed to break free. At that point, one of the assailants pulled out a firearm and shot the victim multiple times.
The two attackers then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries. His current condition has not been disclosed.
The VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has launched a full investigation into the home invasion and shooting. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the crime to come forward.
