ST. CROIX — A serious case of sexual assault involving a minor has resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man following an investigation by the Virgin Islands Police Department.

According to the VIPD, on January 5, 2025, an adult woman reported to authorities that her minor daughter had been raped by an adult male. VIPD's Criminal Investigation Bureau immediately launched an inquiry, and detectives made contact with the minor victim at Juan Luis Hospital, where she received treatment related to the reported assault.

The investigation progressed rapidly, and on January 7, 2025, Kenrick Devon Mottley voluntarily appeared at the Police Operations Building in Frederiksted. Upon arrival, Mottley was read his Miranda rights before providing a statement to law enforcement. He was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree rape, second-degree rape, first-degree assault, child abuse, and unlawful sexual contact.

Following his arrest, Mottley was processed and booked. Unable to post bail set at $100,000, he was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility, where he awaits his advice of rights hearing.
