ST. CROIX — Jamoi Weekes, 30, of St. Croix, has pleaded guilty to Influencing Federal Officials by Threats, U.S. Attorney Delia L. Smith announced today. The plea was entered before Magistrate Judge Emile A. Henderson III, with sentencing set for March 19, 2025.

Weekes faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, with the final determination to be made by a federal judge based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The charges stem from an incident on August 31, 2024, at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix. According to court documents, Weekes was referred for a secondary inspection by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers before boarding his flight. During the inspection, he became irate and issued threats to murder and retaliate against the officers if he encountered them again.

Weekes was deemed unsuitable to board his flight and was ordered to leave the airport. However, as he exited, he encountered two Virgin Islands Port Authority officers and issued similar threats to them. Instead of leaving the premises, Weekes reportedly followed two CBP officers from the terminal to the parking lot, continuing to make threats against their lives.

The incident prompted a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations, and Customs and Border Protection, and the Virgin Islands Port Authority. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel Huston.
