ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department has announced the arrest of a 26-year-old man, Jahamon Bruce, following a lengthy investigation into allegations of sexual assault against a minor.

The case originated on December 9, 2021, when a female reported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station that Bruce had sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl. The Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) took over the case, initiating an in-depth investigation that revealed multiple instances of inappropriate contact by the suspect.

The findings were presented to the Attorney General’s Office, which approved an arrest warrant for Bruce in November 2024.

On January 14, 2025, Bruce voluntarily surrendered at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. He was served with a certified copy of the arrest warrant and taken into custody without incident. Bruce faces charges of Unlawful Sexual Contact in the First Degree and Child Abuse.

Following his booking, Bruce posted bail of $1,000 to secure his release pending further legal proceedings.

The VIPD urges anyone with additional information about this case to contact law enforcement.
