ST. CROIX — A 21-year-old man is facing serious criminal charges after police say he kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman on St. Croix. According to the VIPD, the incident occurred on February 22 but was not reported until two days later, when the victim sought treatment at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.

On February 24 at approximately 10:33 p.m., the hospital’s nursing staff alerted the 911 Emergency Call Center after a woman arrived stating she had been sexually assaulted, the VIPD said. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau were immediately assigned to the case.
According to the results of the VIPD’s investigation, the woman told police that she had accepted a ride home from a man identified as Danny Ramon Dominguez DeJesus. She became concerned when he drove past the intersection leading to her residence. Instead, she told detectives, Dominguez drove her to an unknown location.
At that site, the victim said Dominguez asked her to engage in sexual activity. When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her despite her pleas for him to stop. The woman told police that she sustained visible injuries to her body during the attack.
On March 20, police located Dominguez and transported him to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was read his Miranda Rights. During questioning, he admitted to having intercourse with the victim, according to police.
Danny Ramon Dominguez DeJesus was arrested on charges of kidnapping for rape. Unable to post the $150,000 bail, he was transported to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility, where he remains in custody pending his Advice of Rights hearing.

The case remains under investigation.
