ST. CROIX — A 28-year-old man, Adrian Pinto, has been arrested and charged with first-degree unlawful sexual contact, as announced by the V.I. Police Department. The arrest stems from allegations involving a minor female relative.
The incident came to light when the minor, accompanied by an adult female, visited the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station on the evening of May 23, to file a complaint. The report detailed inappropriate contact by Pinto, which reportedly began shortly after he moved into the family’s residence.
Following an investigation by the Domestic Violence Unit, detectives located Pinto, who had since vacated the victim's home, on May 25. He was immediately taken into custody by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
Pinto has been booked and is currently being held at the John Bell Correctional Facility. He awaits his Advice of Rights Hearing, where the formal charges will be presented.
The VIPD has not released further details about the case, citing the ongoing investigation and the need to protect the privacy of the minor involved. The department urges anyone with additional information to come forward to assist with the case.
