ST. CROIX — On the morning of September 12 at around 5:00 a.m., members of the VIPD's Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Special Operations Bureau executed a search warrant at a residence in La Grande Princess, St. Croix. The warrant was issued in connection with a separate matter, but during the search, authorities discovered a firearm and ammunition linked to the occupant, Abassi Boston.

According to the VIPD, the firearm was found outside the residence after officers heard a window open and observed Boston at the window as he was closing it. Upon approaching the dwelling, officers spotted the firearm in plain sight beneath the window. A further search inside the residence revealed additional items, including a holster on the bed and multiple loaded magazines, all of which were collected as evidence.

A subsequent firearm record check showed that Boston, 26, did not have a license to carry a firearm or possess ammunition in the Virgin Islands. He was then advised of his Miranda Rights and taken into custody.

Boston faces charges of carrying of firearms openly or concealed and possession of ammunition.

Bail was set at $50,000 which he was unable to post, and Boston was subsequently transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility, where he remains pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
