ST. CROIX — A man suspected of breaking into a woman’s residence and assaulting her was taken into custody following an investigation by the V.I. Police Department. The incident occurred on February 15 and led to the swift apprehension of 22-year-old Omarion Webbe.
At approximately 2:17 p.m. on February 15, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a distress call from a woman who reported an intruder in her home. The caller's connection was lost before she could provide further details. Responding to the call, VIPD patrol officers arrived at the scene, where the complainant described the suspect as a Black male wearing a gray shirt and shorts.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau launched an inquiry, uncovering that the suspect had entered the woman’s apartment without her permission and concealed himself in the bathroom while she was outside. Upon returning home and entering the bathroom, the victim was confronted by the unknown man, who then exposed himself, pushed her down, and physically assaulted her.
With the help of the complainant’s description and security footage, detectives identified and located the suspect, later confirmed as Omarion Webbe, still in the vicinity. Webbe was taken into custody and transported to the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station, where he was advised of his rights before providing a statement.
Following the investigation, Webbe was officially placed under arrest and charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree unlawful sexual contact. His bail was set at $75,000, which he was unable to post. He was subsequently remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility, where he will remain until his Advice of Rights Hearing.
